New Lamps!

I needed some lamps for the family room.  So when I found these beauties for $4 each at DI, ofcoarse I had to snag them.  Notice the harps are different sizes.  I had to buy new harps for $3 each.
A few weeks later I found these lamp shades for $1 each!  Loving it!
Only one lamp came with a finial.  And when I set them on the end tables they seemed a little short.  No problem.  I had these magic tools I bought on a clearance sale at Lowe's one time.  (I knew I'd need them someday!)  Anywho, the finials were 52 cents a pair, and the risers were 19 cents a pair.
Now I was cooking, only they still seemed short.  So I measured the base of the lamp, and started scouring the used stores for something that would fit my measurments and raise the lamps.  That's when I met these lovely ladies at the Salvation Army store.  I just loved their curves and they were the exact right size.  Plus they cost me a rocking 25 cents for this pair of wooden bowls.
So I glued the bowls to the base of the lamps and filled in a few cracks.
I really like how the curves of the bowl matches the curves of lamp.
Then I sanded everything and primed it.
First I was going to paint them black, then cream with a brown glaze, but finally I chose Krylon Brushed Metallic spray paint with a Satin, nickel finish.
I think they turned out pretty good. Take a look, what do ya think?  My total cost was about $17 for the two or $8.50 a piece.
One more thing done in the family room.  I still need to refinish the end tables, black, cream or white?  Or maybe a combo, like black on the bottom and white on top?  What do you think  I also want to make a big ottoman/coffe table.   Well let's just enjoy these lamps for now!

WOW! You did a great job with the lamps, and I am loving those shades!

I vote black on the tables, but it depends on what else you have in the room I guess. One of mine is black on top and white on the bottom since I never finished painting it, and I hate how that looks. So I would not recommend that finish, haha!

Love the lamps. I've got a lamp that I'm trying to redo and it needs a smaller harp, where did you find one for $3.00?
