My front room is suppose to eventually be my office/craft room. But right now I have to also have the piano and the computer in this room. A little cramped? But that was not the real problem, the real problem is my kids comming in to get on the computer and not being able to not touch my stuff. They always move things, break things, or just start cutting, writting or whatever mindless thing while they played on or watched the computer. Now in my mind I have great ideas about built ins for my craft and computer someday, but I realized that someday was forever away. Something had to change and it had to change with out any budget! I mean no money at all! So I sat in that room and thought and thought! and then thought some more. I finally camp up with a" plan". I totally moved the computer to the other side of the room and brought up another piece of furniture from the basement. Strangely one more piece of furniture helped. I'll show the rest of the room some other time. Today I just want to show off this desk. It was acutally a double desk we re-did in Arizona for the little boys room. We had built the hutch part and painted it all black. But now it was sitting unused in the basement. So I had the hubby help me drag it up stairs.
Nothing spectacular, but it gave me vertical storage. And a place to put my serger and sewing machine, freeing up my table/desk to actually work on. Then I remembered this wrapping paper I got at Salvation Army for less than 25 cents. I covered the back of the hutch part. I love it. Then I used what I had for storage, mason jars and some silver buckets that I collect from DI over time.
It looks so cute I'm ready to add a few more touches and call the room good!
Can ya see the cute paper in the back?
Of coarse I had to label almost everything! I used my label maker with magnetic tape to label the cans. I love label makers! Well that was my free Craft make over. I want to make a desk out of this old door. But that is for another day.
