Finally I'm posting my bathroom!!!
I know you don't care as much as I do,
but humor me.
Let's start with the
Before:
It's your basic builder grade bathroom.
It was not a bad bathroom,
in fact it was the nicest or at least the largest master bath we have ever had.
But it was short on any usable storage or style.
O.K. I'll shut up and show ya the after,
(unless you already scrolled down and looked at the pictures)
(Shame, Shame)
AFTER:
Our remodel would have cost around $4000 plus labor cost
(Les says it would have been more like $10,000),
but it cost us around $1200.
How?
We did all the work ourselves,
we built our own custom medicine cabinet and base cabinets
we used lots of used supplies from the Restore
(like trim, shutters, doors, and the marble counter top),
and we bought discounted or sale items often.
If you ask you can often get items discounted for slight damage to the product
or damage to the packaging.
For example we got one of our sinks for free and some tiles 15% off due to small damage.
We also got our bathroom fan 10% off and our grout 50% off due to damaged packaging.
These were all purchased at Lowe's or Home Depot.
Most stores have a hard time selling damaged boxes
or items and are more than willing to sell them discounted then to have them hanging around.
All you have to do is ask,
the worst they can say is, NO!
(Side note, my husband thought I was crazy every time I asked for a discount,
but now he just expects it!!
He just shakes his head and calls me the Good deal Queen!)
O.K. back to the photo's.
Here are my shelves.
My mother gave me the bottom fancy one years ago, and we made the top one.
(I'll post more on how we did that later)
All the jars and accessories I've collected over the past few years
from second hand stores for $1 to $3,
except for the moss rocks
(purchased at the $1 store)
and the white topiary
(gift from my great neighbor Shelley)
(I of coarse painted the frames and added some vinyl.)
My sister bought the silver tray at DI,
but she didn't want it any more so she gave it to me!!
I took the ugly gold handles off and shine it up!
I love my free tray.
They soap pump and one glass was from target a couple of years ago
and the second glass I miraculously found at Salvation Army!!!
(Of coarse I added the his and her vinyl)
Are you just in love with my $10 marble counter top?
Go here and here to check out how I found this counter top for which we planned the whole bathroom around.
It looks Goooorgeous if I do say so myself.
Small wall mirror from Ikea.
Knobs and cabinet doors are from the Restore.
Go here to see how they looked originally.
Here is the big picture with those lovely 50 cent legs.
Remember when we tiled our garage for the bathroom scale?
Well here's how it turned out.
Les is so smart for coming up with that one!!!
Check out my new framed up window with revamped shutters from the Restore,
(post more latter.)
You can check out my post on the chandelier here.
I just love this view!!!!!
Details, details.
What do you think of the antique mirror I got from DI a few years ago?
I think it goes perfect.
Just a close up of some more second hand accessories.
More DI finds with some added vinyl
Close up of detail of the antique mirror.
I like the chippy paint.
These last two shots are the view of the bathroom from the bedroom.
The calm view I get to wake up to!!!
I'm still looking for bathmats and something to hang over the hand towel and wall mirror.
It looks sorta empty there to me.
Other than that I call this room done.
I don't think I posted enough pictures. lol
Oh, just go back to the top and look again that's what I did.
I'm so giddy about my bathroom.
I'm also so grateful to husband who helps me build what ever ideas that are in my head,
cause he loves me so much!!!
You're awesome Les!!!
So tell me what do you think?
Do you love it, think I'm crazy or what?
Show me some love and leave a comment.
(This has been over a year of work!!! I need some comments!!)

Ronda it is gorgeous. I love everything about the bathroom, the colors, the decor. I can't believe the steal of a deal on the marble counter tops. The scale garage is genius. This is absolutely AMAZING! I love the color you chose for the wall...so calming! And I started following along when you did your medicine cabinet...which is still on MY list to do in our TINY master bath. Everything turned out wonderfully on your bath...enjoy using it! :)
Oh, WOW! It looks fantastic!
found you through Someday Crafts. Your bathroom is breathtaking! I think the counter is my favorite part. Just beautiful! I know how long of a process it can be. We are redoing our kitchen with Craigslist & Restore finds and it has been almost two years, but I love the way it's turning out, so it will be worth it in the end. Your eye for accessories and the added vinyls make the room extra special! Love the wash bucket too!
I think it's gorgeous!!!!! I know you are so happy!
I love what you've done, especially with the vanity and mirror.
You have stolen my breath! This is such a beautiful room! It's like a totally different room.
I've been trying to decide what to do with my bathroom and was thinking a shabby beach look. I'm totally using yours for inspiration.

Hi! I am new to your blog. I came over from Jena @ Involving Color to tell you how much I love your bathroom remodel! You were very creative in what you used and how you pulled it all together. Love the base cabinet and mirrors. What a fabulous idea for the bathroom scale! I busted my toe on mine this morning because it was in my way! I will definitely keep that in mind when I finally get around to remodeling my bathroom. I would love to know what color you painted the wall.
You and your husband should be very proud, you did a fantastic job!

Hello! We are neighbors at the bathroom Roomspiration (#100 here) and just stopped by to both follow and comment. Congrats - your bathroom is beautiful - you should be very proud with your result and budgeting - very nice! Ironically, we are also neighbors in the TOH magazine. You are page 87 and I am page 58. Crazy coincidence, doncha think? :-)
Swoon! Absolutely lovely! Really appreciate you linking up this great bath post at the Roomspiration blog party. Btw, I am admiring all your creativity in your blog so may I invite you also to join us at Creative Bloggers' Party & Hop? Hope to see you there at the party :)
So happy to see your bathroom on the Roomspiration Blog Hop! I recognized it right away, and although I've already commented on this post I thought it deserved another. It's just beautiful!
I just adore your master bath redo! I found you on the bath blog hop. My floor plan is almost identical to your layout. My bath is still a work in progress... but if you have a second, feel free to check it out (along with my blog if you like!). www.designedtothenines.com
Rhonda, what's the paint color. I know you've been asked several times and maybe I missed it ut I'm getting ready to open my Bath & Body Lounge and would love to use that color. Great job.
Your bathroom does look amazingly beautiful - nice job! I've got this linked to my bathrooms post too today, for inspiration!
This has to be the most amazing makeover that I have seen. The colors, the special details, the beautiful balance in that room is truly brilliant.
Tell you husband, like my Grandmother used to say..."he's a keeper!"
Your inspiration is gorgeous.
Karen
Did you mention your paint color yet? I love it! Geat job!
I am so glad I found you at Remodelaholic today! I fell in love with your bathroom last year ... pre-Pinterest days ... and I grabbed the image and stored on my computer. And then my computer crashed! All was lost ...
But now you are officially "pinned" on my Pinterest page!

I'm also redoing a bathroom...stumbled on yours, love it, studied it all to find your beautiful paint color-but to no avail. Did I miss it? I so want to know your paint color!!! Help!
Such talent! Looks FABulous - and, love your blog background. Mine's the same! :-)

WOW!!!! I came across this post after seeing a FB link to the Pirate bedroom on Sawdust and Paper scraps wall. I love your blog!! This bathroom is beautiful! Did you ever post the color of the paint? We are moving soon and I would love to use this color! Thanks:)
You have done a magnificent job! I would be so proud of myself if this were my bathroom. Love your closet too! You have a great eye for detail. Love it!
I love it! You have every reason to be proud of this bathroom renovation project. The new framed up window by the bath tub made a huge difference in the way your bathroom looked. For one, it helped brighten up the entire room -- that is, by letting natural light to stream through the room. Secondly, it served as an interesting decorative element to that portion of your bathroom wall. Excellent job!
what paint color did you use? Love your bathroom.
Your bathroom is so perfect! You certainly have an eye for great design. I love how you got it to look so classy and fancy. That mirror is so pretty by the way. If your bathroom is this beautiful, I can imagine that the rest of your house is also beautifully designed. Great job, Rhonda!
WOWZA!!!!! This makeover is amazing! Such a wonderful job, found you via remodelholic.

I got here via Houzz and your laundry room remodel. While I wouldn't say your and my style are at all alike, I'm blown away by your resourcefulness, your construction skills, your organizational skills, and your design sense. You're incredible!
Wow, this bathroom should have been on the front page of some décor magazine. Was it? Wonderful job. I'd love to have one just like it.
I just ADORE everything you have done on your bathroom! Only just discovered your page but will certainly be spending some time checking it out now!! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous work ... including that darling silver vase on the vanity - & the tray from your sister! :)

Could you possibly tell me how you framed the window and attached the shutters? Our bathroom is almost identical to yours, we're getting a new vanity new lights, painting etc. and we have a window the same size as yours above our garden tub. it has a ledge on the bottom but that's it. I would love to know how you framed yours and added the shutters!
I LOVE your master bathroom. One of the main reasons I love it is because it set up exactly like mine! We also have a window above our garden tub, it has a ledge but no other framing. I was wondering if you could tell me how you framed your window in and how you added the shutters because it would look great with the paint color we are using in our bathroom! Thanks!
Fabulous!!
1. What colours of paint did you use?
2. Can you share more details of how you trimmed up the divider to the shower? I'd love details on that.
Thanks! Treena
I just wanted to tell you that I think your bathroom looks FANTASTIC!!!! I love that you took so much attention to detail ... the small & large ... but to me, it's always those little ones that make the huge difference! I also think that you're #1 assistant (& dare I say, #1 fan & admirer?) did a fabulous job ...! You make an awesome team ...
I love all those small accessories that you added ... The apple is especially cute, along with the very pretty touch of the silver jug with those pretty soft blue flowers. Things are very expensive here in Oz ... (compared to the USA) ..
I first came across your bathroom renovations when you originally posted it ... & I've since looked at it & re-read it several times as I've 'saved it to file' so that I don't lose it. I've actually found it quite inspirational ... so, Thank You! :)
that is an incredible transformation! It looks absolutely fantastic!
