Pirate Room Reveal!!

We are Done!!!!!
It's been a long road to this
Pirate Room!
I have so many posts to show ya how and what we did every where,
but couldn't wait to show you the final product.
I promise to share everything over the next few weeks.

Remember where we started?
We made a few changes to the design along the way,
but I'm very happy with the way it turned out.

So come on in and take a look around!

(Love that old cork board we got at DI)

Come in all the way!
Yes! We built those beds!
(I'll show ya more on that endeavor later.)
(For now let's just take it all in!)

Now turn around and take a look at those faux doors behind you!!
(Go here for to see how I did them)

Here's their lovely closets all filled up!!
(I love beautiful organization!!)

OK, lets check out some of the details.
These are those amazing shelves "I" built.
(check out that story here)
 I didn't show ya earlier,
but I painted the back wall with orange craft paint.
I filled them up with items I've been collecting from second hand stores
and things the boys treasure.

I spent around $10 to $12 per boy on decorations for their shelves.
For example:
Flor de lis paper weight $1.99 each
Pirate bust $1
(Quinton's was free, from Daddy's mission memorabilia)
Ship models $2 each
Anchor $1
Frames 25 cents to $1
Ships wheel free from a friend
(Use to be a clock, thanks Becky)
You get the idea!

I love how the window seat turned out.
I used a scrap of decorator fabric I got for $5 to cover the cushion.
(Show ya more on how I did the cushion later)

And one of my favorites is the bamboo mat we painted!!
I'll do a post on that,
but let me just say I picked it up at DI for $6.
The same mat retails for $60!!!!

I just love these detailed frames I found at Salvation Army for $1 each.
I hung them over the window.
Here's a close up of the Pirate Captains I put in them!!

Remember the ice bucket with lion handles?

We put them on the beds.
Only problem was I only had two,
but they had some babies!
But that is also another post,
so stay tune!!

Les "made",
yes
 I said made
all those awesome crates under the beds!!
I can't wait to tell ya how he made them
and how we spent only $5-$6 dollars per box!!
I'm so in love with them.
In fact I'm trying to figure out where else I could use some!!!

Oh, back to the Pirate Room,
these crates give the boys lots of storage and saved us from having to build drawers.

Here's a few more finds for the room:
Wrought iron keys from Tai Pan Trading
Old barrel from DI
Old map from DI, cut up and put into frames I already had.

Framed Sailors knots free from a friend.

Oh, and don't forget to look up!
Here's the ceiling painting I did.

So, there you have
 a Pirate Room
the Batchelors Way.
You may notice there aren't really any skull and cross bones.
(OK one on Branden's pillow he made)
I promised Quinton this would not be a baby room,
so I tried to make it more like a Pirate Captain bunking quarters.
Quinton approves!

My favorite comment so far was from the carpet guys.
After showing them the room they were to lay the carpet in,
they said,
and I quote,
"I've never seen anything like this."
"This is like Disneyland."

(By the way, we did not lay our own carpet.
But we did purchase a remnant.
Which saved us 50% off a higher quality carpet.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out our Pirate room!!!
For fun I made a video so enjoy and let me know what ya think!!
I really need some comments after  a year of labor!!!

You guys rock!
Would love to feature your room on my blog.

I linked over from Better After and just had to comment! Amazing! Seems you thought of every. last. detail. I tend to be very detailed in projects, too, so I know what a relief it must be to have it done and what a great feeling it is to be able to show it off :) Bravo!

I've followed the updates of this room from the beginning up until this point. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

I've been ranting and raving to my husband about all the things you and your husband do. We are jealous of your "mad skills" (as my husband puts it).

I've spent the last two days reading and reading your blog and I still have SO much more to read! This weekend I was supposed to get a, b, c, d, e, f, and g done but I am so in love with your blog that I can't get anything done! lol

Traci said...

I LOVE this room!!! We are trying to determine how to make our boys a room that will be awesome, have storage, and fit in our small room. What size room is this one?
Thank you, Traci

And we'll...if you can do this, than so can I. The room is beautiful and I am inspired. Can't wait to read about the rest of your projects!
