The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Last week was quite the adventure. 

THE GOOD

 Let's start with the Good. 

 Grandpa and Grandma Batchelor came to visit from Arizona

 to see Austin graduate from High School. 

It was a good experience although I think I teared up twice during the ceremony.  

We are so proud of him and can't wait to see where he goes in life 

with all his awesome talents.  

We also had a good time when Grandpa and Grandma took us 

to the Natural History Museum of Utah 

and then we went for a picnic afterwards.

THE BAD

Now for the bad,

after being gone all day we return home a little hot and very tired 

to find our basement was full of water! 

Yes,

 it was flooded.

Apparently we left the hose in the flower bed and on all day! 

 It has a cement boarder which acted as great dam to hold all the water in.  

It then flowed over the edge of the window well and began to fill it up.  

When we arrived on the scene the window well was half way full of water, 

(we are glad it didn't brake)  

there was about an inch of water on the floor in over half the basement. 

We went straight to work trying to empty the window well, 

vacuum up the water 

and transferring wet items that were being stored 

out to the lawn to dry out. 

 Great fun!!!

 I know I said this was the bad 

but we are so grateful the water only covered the unfinished half of the basement.

Only Austin's room got a tiny bit of water on the edge of the carpet.    

(Sorry, we went into emergency mode so no pictures.) 

I'm spending this week going through all the stuff scattered all over the house!

THE UGLY

After we got all the water off the floor and fans going, 

we took showers and sat down to relax. 

Enter Austin's friend, with her new kitty! 

It was a sphinx cat.  

They look really ugly, 

but in person she seemed some how cute.
