Nana's Day - The Final Frontier

I know I haven't posted anything about Nana's Day for a long time.
You may think we have done nothing.
 But that's quite the contrary.
We have been working every Wednesday.
We are remodeling the last room in her house for now.
It seems kinda funny that the last room we did is the first room you enter when you come in the front door.
None the less, let's check it out.

Let's discuss the problems.

 Dated,
 boring
and
  small.

The fireplace was not only ugly to Nana but in a weird place.
To the right of the fireplace is an alcove which the piano fits in,
 (the piano was staying)
and to the left is a walk way.
We have literally spent four years trying to make this small room work with this off centered fireplace and piano.

This half wall makes the room feel small and dated with it's Formica top.

Good points were the high ceilings and lots of natural light.

What did she want?
Something different for her.
I think she wanted to stretch her self.
She wanted a place for company to sit and talk.  At family get togethers the grand kids usually go outside or down stairs to hang out.
That leaves my sister, her husband, Nana, Les, and I in the living room.
So we needed 5 places to sit.

This picture was an inspiration for our new lay out for the room.
Five chairs around a round ottoman.
So we set to work looking for more wing back chairs.
Found them on KSL
(KSL is like a local Craig's list).
They didn't all match but we'll fix that latter.

After lots of searching,
a little prodding,
and lots of talking
we came up with the rest of the plan.
I was so pleased with Nana's surprisingly modern choices.
Here is a sneak peak at the finishes and colors for her room.

We are replacing her half wall,
redoing the fireplace,
and painting just to name a few parts of the plan.
Can't wait to show ya more.
Thanks for stopping by!
