Office Redo - We're Talking Trash!

I know I said I was done with the office,
but I still have a few details I wanted to share with you.
Today I wanted to tell you about my trash,
my trash can to be exact.
You may have noticed it peeking from around the desk!

I have this cute pesky dog, who loves to get into my trash cans so I have slowly been changing them all to taller trash cans so he can't get into them.
In my office I have been using this basket my mom gave me.  It works great but it wasn't much to look at.  I decided to paint it gray, and then one day I pinned the photo below and knew I wanted a number on it.

Here (below) is the basket I started with.
First I sprayed painted it gray.
Next, I went to my computer and printed out some numbers,
but not just any numbers.
Please tell me some of you out there have heard the saying just "86" it, meaning throw it away.
Well, that's the number I put on my trash can, so I can "86" it!!
Get it?
OK, I thought it was just plain genius.
I used a font called Modern No. 20 and printed it out as large as I could, one digit per page.
Next, I used and exacto knife to cut the number out,
make sure to leave a few little lines so the middle of the six and eight won't fall out.
Then I just stenciled the numbers on the basket.

I thinki it's pretty dang cute!
Now I just can't wait to "86" something!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

I love it!
I also read on another blog-I think it was A Love Of Wood that she makes stencils the way you said, but before she cuts them out, she puts packing tape over the paper to make it water proof and sturdier, I think she said to put it on both sides and since it is clear you can easily see your design to cut out.
