I love things with character.
This is not my idea of a clock with character!
Function yes, character no!
When I came upon the following clock at DI for $3 I saw character!
Yes, it needed a little help to make it pop, but it had great bones!
Here's what I did.
Step one:
I took off the decorative parts. I just unscrewed the finial. I thought the brass feet would also unscrew, but no. So I just taped off the bottom as well as the glass part.
Then I spray painted the clock with a coat of primer and then Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze.
Next I distressed it with some sandpaper and then I screwed the finial back on, and whala!
"It looks kinda dark inside," Les said.
"What? It looks fine," I thought.
But he was right, soooooo.....
I went back to work.
I opened the back and unscrewed the clock face. I pulled it out and carefully taped off the actual round face part with the numbers and clock hands.
A coat of primer and white paint, and then light distressing.
I put it all back together and Perfect!
Now I have a bedside clock with character and pizzazz!!
Here's a before and after shot.
And it really only cost me $3, because the paint was left over from another project.
What do you think?
What kind of clocks do you like?
Thanks for stopping by!
