Master Bedroom, looking up! Ceiling Medallion

Moving right along with my room!!
Remember, I have a ceiling fan in our room, and it has to stay!
(My hubby can not live with out it!!)
So I have racked my brain trying to come up with a way to make it more appealing to my eye.
First up, a ceiling medallion.
I love them, they give great character.
A year or more ago I picked up this large ceiling medallion at  RC Willey furniture store on clearance for $10.
 (Yes, I plan ahead.)
I think it was meant to be a wall decoration, but that was no problem.  I started by removing the sawtooth picture hanging bracket from the back.  Then I needed to cut the center opening larger to accommodate the electrical box.  I debated of whether or not to paint it, but in the end the green was just the wrong color, so I sprayed it white.
 Looking good!
I wanted a little more pop, so I taped off the center and sprayed the outer and inner rings gold.

I was really getting excited when I finished.
One night we finally got around to taking down the ceiling fan and glued up the medallion.
We used clear adhesive caulk.
We rigged up a fancy tool to hold it in place while we slept.
(OK, so it was scrap wood, an old towel and a car jack.)
But it worked.

Once in place we realized the white space around the electrical box would look bad when our dark ceiling fan was installed.  So I got out some craft paint and painted it black.

Much better.
I think it looks great!
Now we just have to install the ceiling fan again!!!
I'll be back soon to show you what I have planned for the ceiling fan.
I'm soooo excited to show you!!!!

Thanks for stopping by.

This so cute and looks so much better the way you painted it. And even better it was a steal at $10!!! I was looking for some here in Ohio and haven't been able to find one for over $50. Love this!

Love the planning ahead. That's what I call it too although because I usually have no specific plan involved and said piece may be held onto for years. Hence the reason Big Daddy tends to call my 'planning ahead' Hoarding. I think he just has limited vision. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
