Ozzzie's Bed

This is our family dog, Ozzie!!
I know he is just the cutest dog.
And we love him dearly!!

He is spoiled quite often!
But he also is tortured quite often.
By that I mean he gets dressed up in his doggy jamie's with gloves on his feet!
 Kids think it's so fun!
(This may be why he likes to sleep in my room!)

Anyway, I am working on my bedroom, but Ozzie sleeps in there, so I decided it was time to redo this doggy bed I picked up at Salvation Army a few years back for $5.  I love the scrolly detail it has around the bottom.  But you could barley see it.  The front edges needed a little TLC.  I decided I liked the natural color of the wicker, so I just trimmed up the frayed edges.  Then I used some Old English dark oil and rubbed the wicker down; made the ugly spots disappear.

Next I lightly sanded the metal parts.  Then I started the long process of taping off the wicker.  I must say, I was not loving the scrolly detail about now!  After what seemed like an eternity and 500 pieces of tape later I was done and used old shopping bags to cover the rest of the wicker.
 Spray Paint!!!
Last of all Ozzie need something soft in his new bed frame.  I had some old piece of memory foam laying around.
(Weird I know)
If you could see his old bed,
which was just a big light colored pillow,
you would agree that this time we needed a darker material.  Can you say gross? It was really dirty. I thought something soft would be nice.  I couldn't believe it when I found some brown velveteen curtains at DI for $3.
Score!!
I purchased some cotton cording at Walmart for a couple of bucks and then made a custom fit pillow.
Well, here is Ozzie's new bed that cost a grand total of $10!!

OK, I'm not sure which is cuter the bed or the dog?
Well let's just assume they are one great big cute item!!!

I think the scrolly things at the bottom really stand out now!!
Here is a before and after!

OK, so it may be a little over the top but I don't care.
Come on, I know there are others of you out there who make things for your pets!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Yep. As the Mama to four furbabies I can fully relate! Dog stuff is just as pricey as human kid stuff. Since I can't bring myself to pay the prices asked, I am required to make the pillows/bed for them. Proud to do it too! Great job and two thumbs up for having the patience to tape that stuff off!!!

That really turned out cute! And NO I cna't decide if I think the DOG or the bed is more cute??? I'm a dog-person (got 3 of my own - BIG dogs) So I totally understand making something for a dog. I made a denim quilt for my fat-dog Chelsea - many years ago. Well she died in 2009 and we buried her with it. It's a smal comfort to me that she has it. Bourbon has a quilt too. Briscoe & Brandy do not. Those 2 shred them.

Very nice! I love that you repurposed curtains for the pillow. I agree both the dog and bed are adorable.
