My Boys are the Coolest GEEKS!!!!!!

Amongst the chaos at our house, we still have some normalcy.
Well, normalcy for us!!
Around here someone always seems to be dressing up for something!!
This time it's Comic Con 2014 in Salt Lake!!
And of coarse my boys were thrilled to dress up and spend an hour asking for mending, or for me to style their hair and for the perfect accessories.
This year they went with a steam punk theme, and they did not disappoint!
My boys are really the biggest geeks, but somehow people think they are cool!!
 (Isn't that an oxymoron?)
Anyway Geek is the new Cool!!

Let's take a closer look at each of the boys.
Austin traded with some guy at school and got these custom leather arm bands and shoulder holster made.  That is no ordinary holster, it fits his awesome steam punk gun.
(OK, he is my son so you might have guessed it's actually a Nerf gun painted!)
(Makes a DIY momma proud!!)
He borrowed the leather bag, glasses, and vest.  He loves his pocket watch he got off eBay. The rest of his costume is from his closet and our costume closet.  OK at my suggestion he actually made an old map to have sticking out of his vest pocket.
We go all the way around here!!!!

Jaysen spent most of his time the week before making this super cool gun.  He actually made it from a block of wood, a metal pipe and various other parts.  Looks sooooo cooool!!!  He actually wears this hat around; it's one of his favorites, as well as the pants.  His shirt is from the costume closet.  And he made his holster last year and just reused it.

Quinton got to go for just one day.  Everyone helped him throw together his costume real quick.  Jaysen made and wore this hat for trek last summer.  We went to the costume closet for his shirt, suspenders, chain, and boots.
(OK we have a huge costume closet!)
My favorite part was his striped pants!!
They are just and old pair of jeans Jaysen had once spray painted.  That's right, he taped off the stripes and spray painted them red.
Quinton is totally rocking this look,
(I might be partial!)

Last of all is Jordan.  OK he is not really my son, but we kinda claim him.  We have a few of the kids' friends that almost seem like they are one of ours; that's Jordan!!  Jordan supplied most of his own costume; his dad's old navy pants, a neighbor's trek shirt, his hat and his own vest which he sewed chains and gears onto.  He purchased his very cool goggles, but the hat, purple scarf, pin and coat all came from our,  you guesed it, costume closet!!
Total Steam Punk Gentleman!!

So just another day of dress up around here keeping us normal.
My boys said, "Our neighbors must wonder why we are always out on our front porch taking pictures in costumes."
Yeah, that's the Batchelors Way!!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Did they take part in the costume competition?! I guess my brother was the "head judge".

I'm always telling my six kids that geeks are cool ... especially since both of their parents are engineers :)
