We Interupt the Previously Scheduled Post!!

I debated on whether or not to post this!
I don't like to air my dirty laundry or let people know about my stupid mistakes, but I also don't like the fact that in blog land we sometimes see only the pretty and perfect stuff!  I'm sure there's someone else who will benefit from this story; and besides, my family and friends thought I should post this.
At least it will be good for a laugh!!
Today I am keeping it real!!!
we interrupt the previously scheduled post,
which was about our laundry room,
to show you what happened at the Batchelor's home!!

This is my car after I pulled it into the garage the other day.
I have pulled this car into this garage about million times.  But this time something happened and the car started to excel,
which is not good,
so I slammed on the breaks.
I'm guessing you can tell I didn't hit the break, I hit the gas.
Next thing I know we,
(my son was in the car with me),
are smashing  into the shelves on the garage wall and watching the smoke float off the air bag.
(Yes, the air bag deployed.)

It all happened very quickly.  I backed the car up a few feet and we got out.   We were pretty much in shock as we surveyed the damage and listened to radiator fluid drip on to the floor creating a giant puddle.
We then walked inside and looked in disbelief at the other side of the garage wall!!
I was not crying yet, I think I was still in shock or disbelief!!
(Notice how the wall cracked right between the picture and star hanging on the wall but didn't knock them off! lol)

Les, had for some odd reason taken off early this day and was on his way home,
(OK it was one of Gods tender mercies that he was off early.)
So we just went and sat outside on the lawn and waited for him to get home.
He got home to find the giant mess I had made, he hugged me, made sure we were OK and then called the insurance company.
I wasn't sure I wanted to post this because the hardest part of this hole ordeal has been myself!!
I have relived this incident over and over, and thought
"If only I had done this or that!!"
I know that's not good to do and a ton of people have already said,
 "You can't beat yourself up!"
But it's not that simple to just turn your mind off!!
Each day I have done better and better!!  Since day one I have poked fun of myself and laughed a lot!!! One minute I laugh at it and the other I cry.  It's been about a week and my I'm now done second guessing myself and I'm feeling better.
I also have learned how wonderful my husband is!!  He has never made me feel stupid or dumb through this whole thing.  Or asked why?  I have apologized about 50 times and he just keeps saying,
"No need to apologize.  It was just and accident. I could have done it  just as easily as you!!"
  He is super amazing!!

This experience is actually helped me focus on what I do have.  I guess you could say it's an exercise in gratitude.  I am thankful my Heavenly Father is watching over us.

We have already started fixing the wall, and it's not as bad as it looks.  The car how ever is still being haggled over with the insurance company!!
Wish us luck!!
So needless to say, we will have started a new project!!
Not by choice!!
I will keep you posted!!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Oh I can so relate. Sometimes things just go so wrong you can't even believe it. So glad you are all ok. I do think I would have cried too.

OMHeck! Sorry it happened. I am glad no-one was hurt. And YEP we pretty much beat ourselves up worse than anyone else could. I do it too.

The stuff we do ourselves (dumb stuff) is always worse. I backed up once in a huge and EMPTY parking lot right into a huge telephone pole. The pole was fine, my car not so much. It happens, and it's done. We move on, lol

I'm so sorry! I know the feeling. I had both girls in my dad's car the day I found our my divorce was final and I hit the gas instead of the break and crunched the front end of the car with my babies in the back seat. And I wrecked my trailer, and my truck (pretty sure you've heard those stories). I beat myself up bad over those. Nothing kills a vacation faster than tipping the trailer over. Les is a good man. Tyler was the same way, reassuring me it was just an accident, could've happened to him, but I still agonized over it. If you need some extra hands fixing the walls, give us a holler.

I am sorry that this happen to you. And yes accidents does happen. Thank God every one was safe. Cars can be replaced houses can be replace but people can't. I believe that God allows things to happen for a reason. So, there just might be a reason why it happened and you may have already figured it out. You are so blessed to have a loving and caring husband. Even in the face of adversity...we have to stay steadfast. I had an accident a couple of months ago. And I believe that God allowed it to happen for a reason. I actually got injured but I am still standing. I hope everything works out with your vehicle...which I believe it will. Thanks so much for sharing this...

I just read this post and noted how much you regretted this accident. So, I wanted to share with you that on my youngest daughter's 11th birthday, I totaled my car with her and her sister in it. I have come to realize it was the best thing that ever happened to me. We only had bumps and bruises, but God must have had a hand in helping me see how important it is to live life fully. I have given thanks for that accident almost everyday in the 24 years since it happened. Life is good.
