Rustic Charm Bedroom - How to make your head board taller Part 3

This is my third and final post on making our headboard taller.
Part 1 and Part 2 were all about how we altered the bed to achieve our goal of making it taller.
Now that the bed is built and solid we can see how I prettied it up!!
I painted this bed blue!
This is the same free blue paint that I got at the dump.  I have used it to paint our toy room under the stairs and the Laundry room door.
(I am getting a lot of mileage out of this free can of paint!!)
After painting it I scuffed it up!! Or you could say I distressed it.
Ashlee wanted this look, so I sanded away!!

Next I added a brown glaze.
Just paint it on and wipe it off!!

I am loving the finish!!
Any new marks or nicks will just blend right in.
See how tall this headboard is?

Check out all the details.
Would you even know I added 21 inches to the height if I hadn't told you?
With the trim over the seam you can't even tell and
I love how the glaze settled in all the pits and dings.

Here is a side by side before and after.

Look at the height difference between the foot board and headboard.
Loving it!!

What did I spend on this transformation?
$10!
Yes you read that right, $10.
I bought the used bed frame second hand for $10, the other trim and scraps of wood were from my scrap pile, the glaze was left over from other projects, and the paint was free from the dump!!
It doesn't get any better than that, OK totally free would be better, but I'll take my $10 score!!

Hope you learned from my trial and error!!
But figuring it out along the way is how we roll!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Pssstttt....don't say "dump". It's a Landfill. We have some pride. Maybe a little. And I'm just funning with you, I am NOT being serious. Me & the Prince both work in the business of the post collection side of trash. Garbage. Rubbish. It's a living. We get it, push it, pack it & cover it.

No - I would have never guessed you ever did anything at all to that bed. Wonderful. You do such wonderful work!
