Next Project? Girls Bathroom Remodel

Never a dull moment around here!
Now that Ashlee's room is done I jumped right to the girls bathroom.
Two major reasons prompted this room reno:

#1 The Shower area
Let me explain.
Our kids tend to take HOT showers and I mean HOT
The little window in the shower does not open and the fan is a cheap builder grade fan. So the steam just collects on and around the window. Although my house is only about 8 years old the paint is peeling and the corner bead around the window is rusting.

This drives me crazy!
My plan involves tile above the shower and installing a better fan.

#2 Lack of storage
This bathroom is primarily for two teenage girls.
Can you have enough storage for teenage girls?
Seriously, they have perfumes, make up, skin care, hair things, curling irons, blow dryers, flat irons, plus towels, feminine products, toothbrushes and tooth paste, etc.
I am sure I left something out!
Anyways you get the picture.
It has a big mirror, which is great, but it is just stuck to the wall with no storage.
I also plan on adding storage inside the lower cabinets and adding a medicine cabinet above.

Now that I am remodeling this bathroom, let me also talk about what I want!!
I want something different than builder grade oak cabinets.
I am thinking blue!!!
I also want a lighter more whitish counter top.
And of coarse I want a new light fixture.

I have been living with this bleached stained rug.
(My daughter may have spilled toilet bowl cleaner on it!)

And this burnt hole in the shower curtain.
(My youngest son burnt a hole in it a few years ago. Yes, I said a "few" years ago!! And don't ask how, lets just say when little boys get board and find a cigarette lighter in the street, you just thank the Lord your whole house didn't burn down!!)

Armed with my needs and wants I spent some time pinning ideas.
You can check out my Pinterest Board for the Girls Bathroom.

Here is the plan I came up with.

What do you think?
I'm liking the gold and blue colors.
I am so excited.
Let the demo begin!!!
Thanks for stopping by!
