Time to be Inspired - Home Depot Virtual Party 2016

This post is sponsored by The Home Depot

It's time!!
Time to be inspired by 25 bloggers who put their spin on this Wooden Door Mat.

( Home Depots version)

I love to see how every one's creative personality shows through.
This project couldn't have come at a better time.
My front porch was looking pretty bad, with old dirty pots filled with dead flowers and a very worn out door mat.
I was ready to give my front porch a punch of spring!
With out further ado, let's see how my wooden door mat turned out!!

I love it!!
I followed Home Depots instructions with the additional step of stenciling.
Here is a  list of the materials I used, I purchased everything at the Home Depot:

8 - 36" x 2" x 2" Square End Balusters
1 - Spool 1/4" x 50' Natural Sisal Rope
Small amount of White Paint
Stain (I used Minx PolyShades in Honey Satin)
American Decor Stencil Mandala
Frog Tape

After cutting the balusters in half, I lined them up and ran a piece of frog tape all the way around the outside edge; making them taped together as one piece. Then I taped off boarders and taped down the stencil in the middle.
 Easy peasy!!
I then painted the stencil and boarders with white paint.
Pull off all that tape and voila!!

After it was dry I stained each stick on all sides. I used a brush and then wiped off the excess stain, especially over the white paint.

Then I finished, per Home Depot instructions, by drilling holes, threading the sisal rope, and knotting it.
I am over the moon happy with how it turned out!!

You could really stencil any design you wanted on it.

Now it's your turn!
You can sign up to make one of your very own!
